// IFAD:

The JTAC training solution, IFACTS2, provided by Danish IFAD TS A/S has after evaluation by NATO's Formal Assessment Team achieved accreditation to be used for Type1, 2 and 3 Close Air Support (CAS) training of Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTACs).

The Denmark JTAC Program utilizes an accredited IFAD TS A/S simulator named IFACTS2 located at Army, Air Force and SOF sites. Installations are networked enabling distributed CAS training. The systems are used consistently throughout the year.

In addition to Denmark, the system has been delivered to JTAC users in several European and other countries with specific adaptation of equipment and geo-specific terrain.

The IFACTS2 system meets the standards

  • JFS ESC Action Plan (AP) Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) 2004-01 JTAC (Ground), Appendix B, June 2024
  • JP 3-09.3, Joint Close Air Support, June 2021

The IFACTS2 system has achieved the following accreditations

  • NATO (APR 2019)
  • JFS ESC (DEC 2019)
  • NATO and JFS ESC (OCT 2024)

The JTAC training system

IFACTS2 is a VR-based, semi-portable, multiple flat-screen or front-projected system with simulated/emulated JTAC Equipment.

A typical JTAC training center includes, in addition to the IFACTS2 JTAC station,  an instructor operating station (F-INSTR), and a semi-automatic fixed/rotary wing and UAS station (IFACTS AIR). To facilitate higher training value, it includes a linked pilot station manned by CAS qualified fighter pilots. Communication is handled by IFAD's IRAS PRO solution, and interoperability is enabled using the ISIM Bridge HLA/DIS bi-directional gateway.
